On or about 4/7/03 2:48 PM chris AKA [EMAIL PROTECTED] eruditely mused the
following:

>>My mother and a few friends have started using a cheap ISP. Every so
>>often, no matter what email client they use, when they attempt to send
>>mail to a recipient using the AUTO completed address straight from the
>>address book, the ISP instead rejects it, appending their own address to
>>it! The message comes back that the recipient of course, is unrecognized.
>
>My boss has this problem all the time with OE 5.02.
>
>From the best of what I can tell, it is user error. What is happening is
>(and I'm not an OE user, so bear with me if I don't get it 100% right),
>the user is typing in the "shortcut" name from their address book (I
>believe OE just uses the first/last name as entered). Then, OE shows this
>name via the auto complete. BUT... in order to auto complete it, you must
>hit enter or arrow right to actually choose the autocomplete name.
>
>The user is rather hitting tab, or clicking into the next field and NOT
>actually selecting the auto complete name, but rather telling OE to use
>the bit of the name as typed as the email address.

I've seen what Chris says happen before and I think that this may well be
what is happening. I would check out if this is it before you go looking
for another solution.
