Thank you for the detailed info. But I'm almost sure this part didn't 
happen here, which is why I found it too nasty to switch to 2.0v3 without 
making a good workaround script first. If Emailer actually did notify me 
of an error, I could just wait for that to happen and send fixed 
duplicates with an apology, but as I recall I spent 2 or 3 weeks 
exploring the issue when my brother and I found it and I suppose I would 
have noticed error reports on my side. It's probably what led me to this 
list.

I guess my SMTP server was too tolerant and didn't issue the error 
message. I would have filed a report to them if I had known.
