First, I composed a note with the subject "Tyrone's email error".

Then I created a mail action that looks for an email ENDING with that 
subject, replies to it and deletes the original note (for some reason, 
this keeps multiple "Re: Re:" from showing up in the subject line).

Then I sent the note (I'm on a dial up). Once the note was sent, I went 
to the sent mail folder, added my same address again to that same note, 
and sent it 20 minutes later.  Now, there is always an email in my 
"outbox" waiting to be sent to me and also one waiting to be downloaded.  
Assuming I don't do a Connect Now within, say, 3 minutes of the last one, 
I'll always have at least one piece of mail waiting to be downloaded, and 
one waiting to be sent.  It never clogs my inbox (the mail action deletes 
them), and I can always check the status by looking in the outbox for the 
email or in the deleted mail folder.
