Dates are fine in both Classic and X. And yes, there are some mails with weird dates, but it's not deleting any at all. Right now I just tried again, and have 863 msgs in deleted mail, and on quitting, the little delete window isn't even coming up at all, and on reopening, it's still 863 messages (going back several days now, since I did the last manual delete). I finally tried trashing my preferences yesterday, and was relieved to see I didn't have to reenter all my account info, plus it fixed the printing problem I've been having for years. However, made no difference at all re deleting (and yes, I reset the delete schedules in the prefs). OK, shall try the rebuild while I head up for some coffee.
