Odd that there are such discrepant results with Firefox. I'm running a 3 or 4 year old G4 867 MHz (Quicksilver) with 1.12 Gb of RAM on OS X 10.4.2
I have Firefox running 24 hours a day, and have no problems at all. Sure, occasionally I'll restart long-running apps to free up any lost RAM, but that's every couple of days. I have LetterRip Pro, Entourage, iTunes or MyTV, iChat, Firefox, Spell Catcher, and Drop Drawers running all the time. I frequently have up to 20 windows open (forums), with the occasional 25 or so without problems.
