Hi Bill and those interested:

The answer is yes! I currently use an AppleScript written for Emailer,
called "shred messages" I set up to use in Emailer's Mail Actions. This
is automatically triggered by an assortment of spam filters, or "not my
address" filters I set up in Mail Actions. 97 percent of my spam with
their attachments are caught and shredded this way. The ones that get
thru, I select individually, or in groups, select shred messages
AppleScript, and they're gone when I click OK on the dialog that appears.
Messages totally disappear, and their attachments wind up in the desktop
trash can. If I move a message's attachment to the desktop from the
downloads folder, same thing happens if I select the message and the
shred messages AppleScript from Emailers AppleScript menu, and that
includes JPGs, gifs and other attachments in addition to htmls.

There's a similar AppleScript I used, that can be set up to run the same
way called "Trash Messages and Attachments". The difference being that
TM&A moves the messages you want to delete automatically, or manually, to
Emailer's deleted mail folder, and the message(s) related attachments to
the desktop trash can. I've always had Emailer set to empty the deleted
mail folder when ever I quit the program, so that worked well for me
also, but I prefer shred messages (with attachments) at this time. Hope
this helps answer your question

Happy New Year to you and everyone also!

Best regards,
Martin Zibulsky
