My solution is to use the free downloadable application "Emailer Cleanup" 
(Google that and you'll find the Web site) with the applicable extensions 
checked. It doesn't run automagically -- at least I =think= it doesn't; I 
have it open with [EMAIL PROTECTED] and use it as I think of it -- and it keeps 
the 
downloads folder happily empty. (I just looked, and it reports 1,429 
files deleted since I last cleared it to start recounting.)
