Mail imported all of my CE mail without a hitch. Its been quite a while, but I think it still kept the links to attachments too.

My experience was that Mail properly imported emails where the attachments were still in the CE downloads folder, but lost the linkages to attachments that had been shifted to other folders.
Mail's fine, but it's not CE. I moved because it was the only OS9 application that I was still using and even then the writing seemed to be on the wall for Classic.
