For the time being, I'll just keep using my trusty PowerBook G3 Kanga, which is doing everything in style, including wireless internet with my PCMCIA card from MacWireless.
Are you currently running OS X full time and run your older software in Classic.... or do you run OS 9 full time and only start OS X when needed?
If it is the later, I recommend you switch to OS X full time, as it is the way of the future for the Mac. That will let you start getting used to OS X more while you run your older apps in Classic.
Once you get more used to OS X, then you can start hunting around for replacements for your older apps with OS X native apps. Remember, you don't need to upgrade and stick with the same application you have always known. OS X is unix based and as such has a rather HUGE library of Linux and other *nix software that has been ported to OS X... most of that is FREE.
You may find there are free applications that do everything you want, and are OS X native.
But yes, OS X does have a learning curve when coming off OS 9 and earlier. And at first, it seems harder to use, but once you get used to it, it isn't too bad (there are some trouble shooting issues that can be a nightmare compared to earlier OS versions). And once you get used to OS X, and start using some of its features, you may find yourself longing for it over OS 9. I constantly find myself wishing at work that I had OS X on my machine instead of OS 9. (I even went so far as attempting an install of the Intel version of OS X on my Dell at work... which, by the way, did work... alas I need that Dell to be running Win2k3 so I can't leave it running OS X... plus the video isn't really supported so I had a low resolution screen with a bad flicker... blech, for that I'd rather buy a mini and do it right)
