Yup
I assume it will let me restore a total system? I would like to
just move
my Windows 2K environment into a new machine. That would be easier
than
having to change anything. I will look into it.
It will make an exact image copy of whatever drive it is told to make
it of. Kind of like Carbon Copy Cloner, only it wraps it into an
image file instead of just moving it to another drive (well, it can
also just do drive to drive, but since you are doing this inside
different and incompatible virtual computers, the drive to drive
method is right out).
Keep in mind, I've never used Ghost in a virtual PC like environment,
so I can't speak for how well it works. I use Ghost all the time to
clone PCs at work, or to make restore CDs for machines before I ship
them out (because nothing sucks more than spending 3 days building a
machine to exactly the specs you need, ship it to a location, and
find that the wonderful carrier companies out there decided to play
soccer with the box and the hard drive is now toast... so I always
include restore CDs that are a Ghost image set to auto install on
boot of the CD, so the remote location need just buy a new drive and
be back up and going).
