<How about a little advice here?

I've had this email address since day one. For a long time
there was little or no spam. Now it's really increasing.

That to Chris' prodding, I've been successful in implementing
Mail Actions to the point where it's virtually 100% effective
in putting the good stuff into my "In" folder, while putting
the spam into my "Spam" folder.>

Hahaha, I've also had the same email address ever since I started. And
yeah, I also use Mail Actions -- only I route the spam to the Deleted
Mail folder. However...

<For example, today I got 5 good emails which landed in my
"In" folder, but 19 spams which all landed in my "Spam"
folder. In about a second, with one click, I got rid of all
the spam, including their attachments, using the "Shred Messages"
AppleScript.>

What's this Shred Messages thing which gets rid of the spam ATTACHMENTS?
That might be a lot cooler than cleaning out my Downloads folder every
week. ;-)

<The question is, with this working so effectively, would I
be better off to keep my longtime address, or to dump all
this spam by changing addresses?

What I'm afraid of is that, if I change addresses, something
important in my past will try to contact me at the old
address and I'll miss it. To completely avoid this problem
I'd have to keep the old address along with the new, and
check it periodically. If I didn't check it real often, the
spam would fill up my quota on the server.>

I dunno, William, if Mail Actions and your Shred Messages operation gets
rid of your spam so effectively, why do you actually "need" to change
your email addy at all? Note: I have two email addresses by now, this one
(my main one), and another one I got 3-4 years ago solely for writing
correspondence. What spam I get (rarely in unreasonable amounts, and I
like how Mail Actions filters it out of my sight to the Deleted Mail
folder), all comes to this addy: I never get any at my "writer address."
