Greetings all. While I'm a new list member, I've been using Emailer since back in the v1.0 days. Forgive me if my questions have been answered previously, but they're not addressed in the FAQ and I could not locate any method for searching old messages.
Question #1 Is there a way to use the Emailer files off of a computer running in firewire target disk mode on another computer? I use my laptop (iBook G4 running OS 10.4.8) as my primary email machine. I'd like to then hook it up to my desktop machine (PowerMac G4 MDD 2003 running OS 10.4.8) and take advantage of the larger monitor, keyboard, better egros, etc... when I'm at my desk. When I hook the laptop up to the desktop using Firewire Target Disk mode and launch the copy of Emailer (or open the Mail Database) on the laptop I get the expected mail. I can read and write mail offline just fine. However I can not connect to send or receive mail from my mail server. Any thoughts or suggestions? Question #2 Is the version 2.0v3p3 patch mentioned in the Claris Emailer Wikipedia entry available anywhere (still)? Judging by the description, this patch might correct several problems I've had to work around for the past several years. Reversing the POP/SMTP order alone would be a huge help and if the SMTP Authentication works for me it would greatly streamline the retrieval of my mail. It's great to know that I'm not the only one still out here using Claris Emailer.
