The old control panel, Safe or Sorry, handles this problem perfectly in OS8.6/9.X. If I had one dollar for every email that SOS has saved for me, I would be rich. They had a near-perfect OS that was logical and easily configurable. They could have kept it and improved on it in the change to Unix. Instead somebody got some wild ideas and made a mess of it, in my humble (?) opinion. That's why I will stick to the old ways as primary even though I now have a dual-bootable machine.
