I would repeat the tests, only this time, set Emailer to leave the mail on the server. Then try collecting the mail using another client and see what happens.
I would also telnet to the mail server and take a look at the raw message and see if something is wrong with the MIME headers. (Unless whatever the other mail client you test with supports showing you the raw messages, then you can use it rather than telnet)
