<I've never understood it either. But some people obsessively keep
every last email they ever get, and can't bring themselves to
throwing them out.>
I'm almost, but not that bad. I only keep "every last email" from regular
correspondents (I keep the entire correspondence, both ways, so I keep
what I sent as well as what I got). I keep a lot of list mail too (LEM
lists and this list), but for those, it's only the ones which (a) I
initiated or took part in the discussion and (b) I discovered info in one
that I want to keep for reference.
< I archive them to a single text file for easy searching, and stick them
with the job files they go with when the job wraps up. Sometimes that
means they are in my mail app for a few weeks, other times longer,
but never so long as to cause my mail database to swell to gargantuan
sizes.>
It would take me "forever" to do this, although I've considered it.
<I think the largest my Emailer database ever got was around 300 MB,
usually it was more in the 180 MB size range.>
What I don't understand is how mine isn't bigger than it is. My entire
Claris Emailer folder is 149.1 MB. I've been using CE since 1995 or 96,
and I keep a hell of a lot of email!
