How can she get her Emailer files from one machine over to another client on the other? It seems like all the discussions that I've noticed involve moving from Emailer to another mail client when both are on the same machine.

Emailchemy accesses the Emailer files directly. You can run it on on your fastest Mac. You should just need to copy the Emailer folder onto the new Mac. I chose to save from Emailchemy in the recommended format for Apple Mail, although there are many choices available, depending on your preferred new email client. Then in Mail, I chose File, Import Mailboxes... and selected the converted mail folder.

One thing that surprised me was that the conversion to .mbox format also preserved the email attachments. But, there is a difference here from Claris Emailer. Rather than the attachments going into a Downloads folder, they are now embedded in each email. This increases the size of your email database, but it also has the positive side effect that when you delete an email, its attachments get deleted as well (unless you choose to save a copy of the attachments to another location). No more purging the Downloads folder :-)

As has already been mentioned Emailchemy only converts your mail database files (and preserves your folder structure). You need to deal with your email account settings, address book contacts and mail rules separately. Emailer can export its contacts in a form that the Address Book application can read (I used the ldif format and this preserved the groups). As far as mail rules and other Applescripts, you have to update them manually...

Hope this helps

Mike
