Apple has a section dedicated to Mail on their discussion boards.

I didn't bother to mention it because I assumed everyone (i.e. everyone on this list who uses "Mail") knew that. AFAIK there's NO discussion board for emailer? :-)

The problem with a discussion board is that it doesn't come into your "inbox", you can't automatically "file the interesting replies" and it's quite hard to search for them when you realize you need them.

So, while I'm a great fan of forums, (or "bulletin boards" as we used to call them in the 9600pbs modem days!) I also see a need for other ways of communicating.

Indeed, I'm a member of the Yorkshire Mac User Group (YMUG - the largest UK Mac group) and I've tried to encourage them to use a forum, instead of a mailing list, but my exhortations were met with blank refusal. I think some (many) people need to feel part of an exclusive group and maybe they don't want to post in a public forum.

So, what are people's thoughts about an Apple Mail email list?
