Personally, I just copy the Mail database and Mail index, to a couple of folder storage areas for safekeeping...I date the folder. Then I open claris and selectively go to one of my 60 or so folders and delete most of the folder by date, keeping a few months of emails to keep me current. It takes a while but it is very secure doing it this way....I don't know what the others are doing but this has worked perfectly for me for many many years...Then if I need to get to an older email for some reason (ten year old customer says "remember me"), I just have to remember the year and then I temporarily swap out the old mail database/mail index for the new, read what I need and then put back the original Database and Index I'm currently using...Caution is advised as you could easily trash the wrong database. Thats why I keep at least 2 copies....
I used the emailer archive (transfer to archive) for a couple of years way back when but it was too slow (on a quadra 650 I bet). John Enjoy the Holidays! >I keep maxing the Mail Database (1gb).
