I started using Eclipse when it first came out and I was doing some Java programming. The list of plugins for Eclipse has never stopped growing. It's still what I reach for when I can't use Python but I nearly always use Python. But now you begin to see the nature of the problem. Three people answering. Three+ different answers:-) I'd say just pick one and get some work done. It's the only way you'll really learn what's to like and dislike about IDEs. Then you'll be ready to make a rational choice.
