one example, how do you command spindle from with HAL over modbus/RTU? how do you program tool changer without ladder logic? homing sequence is hard-coded, so there is no way to implenent systems with two end switches without going to sources. we still have some half-baked solution for master-slave joints in gantry kinematics, and this is also the area, there scripting of HAL would help. These are of top of my head, please correct me if I miss something...
