It looks like all of the available GPIOs on the BeagleBone can be controlled 
with the PRU, albeit with a 4X penalty.  Some timing info here:

With that said, the BeagleBone with the Adafruit Proto Cape 
(http://www.adafruit.com/products/572) is a cost effective way of getting 
access to all of those GPIO pins from the expansion headers on the BeagleBone 
with hard realtime capabilities for about $100.
