Hi Gene

I have had huge issues with the 12.xx install, it almost prevented my
doing any testing
for John of the Xenomai builds, until I worked around it.

In addition to network resolution issues, the installer has real
problems with many HDD
setups. This is quite well documented in help forums for Ubuntu.

If it does not find just a single HDD with maybe Windoze and an older
Linux install, it can blow a fuse.

My machine has 3.5TB of space over 4 HDDs and approx 35 logical
partitions, so it just sat at the
'Preparing to Install' graphic and hung

I found that on the Ubuntu site there is an mini(mal).iso for 12.xx,
which is similar to the Debian net install .iso
It just contains the bare bones to get going and downloads the rest.

As far as I can tell it IS the debian ncurses based installer and it
just works.

It resolved my partitions and network in no time at all and installed
first time (12.11)
The only thing it did not like was my telling it not to install a boot
loader, but this was so near the
end of the process, I just Ctrl Alt Del out of it to finish it.

(The 12.11 system works fine with the Xenomai debs, you are installing a
new kernel onto it in any case.)

Worth a try

regards
