The system is running from the SD card on the BBB. I've I've been 
running Axis when the symptom shows up.
It **appears** that the symptom goes away when I change to Tkemc (with 
or w/o the back plot) .
HOWEVER, that may just be a coincidence - I've not done enough total 
test runs to jump to that conclusion yet and I can't make it happen on 
demand with axis.

As the sound difference of the symptom is difficult for me to describe, 
I've was trying to capture the sound difference by recording the gocde 
run with a web cam (connected to a different machine so (in theory) w/o 
impact on the test system).
So far all I've managed to prove is that the symptom does not happen 
when a web cam is pointed at the machine...
