The acceleration limit is along the direction of the path, rather than along a particular axis. Since the axis limits always apply, this limit only matters if it's less than what is allowed by the axes. To be honest, I'm not even sure this limit is fully implemented in the TP code, though I'd have to take a closer look to be sure.
