Writing the software is just half of the job. I think, if you believe in what you have created, you need to market it. Unfortunately, to most of us, marketing falls below documentation in our 'favorite things' list. I have seen plenty of really good ideas take a year or two to find enough eyes and interest to become main stream. Plenty of ideas never make it. Off hand, it seems after creating a masterpiece, one needs to document it in a way that makes sense to the totally naive. Then present why it is important. It's about communicating what it is, and why someone should care.
