Is there some way to set up some simulations and test the variance? Even if there is a little difference between them, if they are only off a couple of 10'ths it might not matter. If we can set up some simulations and dump out the actual trajectory, then we can statistically analyse the geometric as a function of forward and reverse speeds. This should give various applications the information needed to know if it is safe or not. Actually, with a little more work we could even set this up as a simulation analysis application so that you can test the appropriateness on a part by part basis.
