Neither am I Kenneth, I am a C.E.T. though. And I have played one of them on tv! ;-) But I have had to instruct electricians about such things as most have never seen a copy of the NEC here in WV. I have had to live and work around some very poorly constructed systems that were simply grandfathered in, or would have been prohibitively expensive to fix in terms of downtime and labor after the fact if and when WV ever made law of something like the NEC. Since the NEC is so damnedably fond of sueing any state that uses it for the fine print in their state codes for copyright violations to the fullest extent possible, we may not have a state code at all & TBT I haven't asked. Can of worms etc... Some judges have admonished the NEC for such behaviour and thrown the suits out, but you never know when you'll find an idiot in a black robe totally without common sense either. Humm, or red heat shrink would serve. I can't recall if I have any, but have lots of black. My copy of the NEC is rather old now, I bought it when I was the CE at WDTV. '96 issue. $90 then. Fresh ones are well north of $100 these days. >From section 200-7, discussing ground conductors, Exception #2, "A cable containing an insulated conductor with a white or natural grey outer finish shall be permitted for SINGLE POLE (caps mine), 3way or 4way switch loops where the white or natural grey is used as a supply TO the switch but not as a return conductor from the switch to the switched outlet. In these applications, re-identification of the white or natural grey wire shall not be required." And hope I don't get sued for copyright. That, if my paralleled relay contacts are "single pole" at least as of the '96 NEC, says I am legal. And we won't discuss the fact that its "SJ" category cable and therefore stranded conductors. All of course shrouded in suitably sized wire nuts. The only bare spots are the terminals on the icecube socket, 6 feet up in the air ATM. Those I can cover with some lexan I suppose. Or I can build, at some point, a bigger box to contain it all internally. I'll put that on my bucket list. ;-) Thanks for making me look it up Kenneth. :) [...] Cheers, Gene Heskett -- "There are four boxes to be used in defense of liberty: soap, ballot, jury, and ammo.
