My plan is to generate the HTML man pages directly from the adoc man
pages, when we made the switchover to maintain them as AsciiDoc.
But there are some thoughts needed how to handle the man pages from
halcomp...
In general the docs in the .comp files are plain text, so it's "just"
a matter of getting halcompile to generate adoc rather than groff.
Sure, but *backward-compatibility*. If we replace all Groff formatting
in the .comp files by AsciiDoc, we should adapt halcomp that it
understands both.

Good point... AsciiDoc support should be _added_ to halcomp[ile ?] with a
deprecation warning for Groff.
Yes.

There are a lot of hal components out there which will
still use Groff inside. And if we have AsciiDoc inside the .comp files,
halcomp should be able to convert the AsciiDoc to Groff man pages.

I thought it would output adoc files which in turn would be processed by
asciidoc toolchain to be translated and converted to man/html/pdf 🤔

Yeah but consider the case you have a custom .comp and only want a local man page.
