I think 'easily discernable' (sp?) means that a person with normal 
vision can read it. No STEM required!

Ah, that's a different matter. It's difficult to be specific but if the 
printing quality and contrast are good, 4-point Arial regular is quite 
legible for people with normal vision. On the other hand, where the 
wording is in black raised or incised letters on a black moulding...
