Tend to agree with you Charles but some standards allow "Fire Enclosures", when required, to be made of plastic with a flame rating of V2 or better..................

Is it really appropriate for us to define a plastic enclosure (irrespective of its UL rating) as a fire enclosure? After all, the UL flame ratings typically define the performance of the plastics AFTER the ignition source has been removed. Until that point any UL approved plastic enclosure (esp. 94V2) will burn quite nicely. The only fire ENCLOSURE I know of is made of good old sheet metal (with minimal openings). It is not related to the enclosure providing a fire barrier although it can provide that function by default. UL 60065 includes U.S. specific deviations where a fire enclosure is required if available power in the product exceeds 15W under normal and fault conditions....In this case you need an enclosure rated UL94-V2 or better..... There are standard changes being proposed, and in the works driven by the U.S. State Fire Marshals, to protect against external flame sources like candles where a 94-V0 fire enclosure may be required if adopted...
