I think it's necessary to take into account that, like the farad, the 
tesla is a big unit. If we consider the field strength rather than the 
induction, a 'few microtesla' becomes 'a few amps/metre', and 1800 μT 
is 1430 A/m. These are not weak fields.

Switching to CGS units is confusing. 1 T is 10 kG, so 100 mG is 1000 
μT, which is not an increase relative to 1800 μT. Please cite a 
reference for the research, so we can see the frequency/ies concerned, 
and consider how likely is exposure to such a field for a year.
