The prototype was built in a Swiss university, I think. The ring cores 
were probably either carefully cracked by a skilled glass worker (most 
likely), or sawn with a diamond saw or cut with a laser.

These days, a supplier might be able to arrange the necessary processing 
for you, for $$$.

If the relevant standard includes a calibration procedure, or you can 
find the original paper that explains how to do it. And, of course, that 
you have the required equipment, with traceable calibration.

Seriously, provide everything you possibly can that is even slightly 
relevant.
