I had an application  where the tab used for bonding the sheet metal cover was 
spot welded to the cover.  Inside were conductors protected at 125A.  I was 
wondering how many spot welds might be needed to ensure that a ground fault 
wouldn't simply blow the spots off before tripping the breaker.

I wonder whether that actually happens. It seems to me that the points might, 
instead, melt and weld to the substrate. That's how spot-welding works. An 
experiment or three is indicated.
