Hi Amund,

The solid bar indicates that the product was placed on the market after 13th
August 2005.

EN 50419 is explicitly mentioned in the current version of the WEEE directive
(2012/19/EU).

Best regards,

Andreas Graevinghoff

Subject: [PSES] WEEE symbol - solid bar

I can see two different types of WEEE bin symbol:

1) From appendix IX in WEEE directive 2012/19/EU: crossed-out wheeled bin
2) On the web and on various products: crossed-out wheeled bin and in addtion
with a solid bar under the bin

This solid bar was introduced via EN50419 as I understand, and came into use
under the previous WEEE directive 2002/96/EC.
What was the reason for introduction this solid bar and does EN501419 still
apply?

Mvh Amund
