I think that's how I did it, mounted the tubes in my lathe vise and milled
the sides of the tubes.  There was a bit of hand filing.

I just took a glance at digikey's catalog and I think you might want to try
the Fairchild parts on page 1984.  They have one with a 3.81mm slot.
There are some Omron ones on page 1985 that may have a wider slot.

I measured the slot on mine and it is about 0.195" which is around 5mm.
The part number on mine is "T p850"  I don't see a manufacturer label 
anywhere.

Make sure you get a couple in case you blow one up.

By the way, I heard that there is a potential merger between Honeywell and 
Fairchild in the works.
The new company formed will be called "Fairwell Honeychild"
