Jeff: thanks for the prompt reply.
Windows is reporting a size of 692,107,564 bytes (note the 300-byte
discrepancy) on all three of my copies (I downloaded from the EU
mirror as well).
So I guess the matter rests there. For whatever reason, what I
download now is apparently not what you downloaded.
I'm at a loss as to how to proceed; right now I don't have the spare
resources to do a Dapper Drake install on a machine and then do the
EMC2 install.
