Barb and Truman Parkinson, who are managing the expo business side have been wonderful, and I had my boys there last year, and they seemed to tickle the Parkinsons quite a bit, and we ended up having a VERY nice chat! Truman gave them a ride in his runnable Model T, but they never quite got that trick of the snap of the wrist to hand-crank an angine. I also had a nice chat with Brian Lawson, who does some of the setup and engineering. One thing I mentioned to both of them is they had a model aircraft engine run-up area on the venue's loading dock. and allowed people to stand to the side of the test engine. I did some back of envelope calcs that one guy had prop tip speeds over 385 MPH! His engine was totally fantastic, though! I was actually too afraid to step into that zone myself to warn these guys that 1/2" Plexi wouldn't protect them if a prop tip came off. > > The EMC2 stepper configuration gui is coming along quite nicely, thanks > Jeff and testers, so a seminar on it's ability would be really > desirable. Wish I could find gas and lodging money. Moving NAMES to Toledo made it not only closer to me, but also a much better venue. (I had already pretty much burned out on the abominable hotels around Southgate. We'd been literally kicked out of a Red Roof Inn at 11PM, and then had to contest the charges on our credit card even though I watched them re-rent the room to the next customer. We went out to the Royal something at the airport, and it was almost spooky how nice they were, but it was too far from the venue.
I'm super-under-the-weather right now, been sick in bed most of the last week. Some kind of Flu or something, hit everybody I know. I get masive sinus infections with these sorts of things, so first priority is to open the drainage and prevent a bacterial infection, and the virus will usually follow its own course and go away. This one seems to be staying for a while, but with the secondary stuff under control, at least I won't end up in the hospital. Still, I've blown an ENTIRE WEEK doing NOTHING! I mean, I've got so much energy, it only takes me about 5 hours to read a newspaper! With no idea how long this DAMN bug is going to hang on, I don't know if I'll make NAMES this year. The backlog just keeps growing! Jon ------------------------------------------------------------------------- SF.Net email is sponsored by: Check out the new SourceForge.net Marketplace.
