You are quite right that the above comand will fail. Try cvs.linuxcnc.org without the http:// The command PING cvs.linuxcnc.org yields "(206.222.212.221) 56(84) bytes of data. 64 bytes from lin-dsl-static-206-222-212-221.inetnebr.com (206.222.212.221): icmp_seq=1 ttl=47 time=116 ms" from da u.p. 'eh. > `traceroute cvs.linuxcnc.org` - Stops somewhere in the alltel.net system. I don't have ordinary traceroute installed but there is a "Network Tools" under the System -> Administration that lets me run quite a number of these sorts of tools. The Alltel does take quite a bit of time going to the next step but from here it does complete to the 206.222.212.218 addy where the cvs resides. I suppose that there may be some misdirection somewhere between dreamhost where linuxcnc.org is located and Jeff's host where the cvs is located. I would find it difficult to believe that this misdirection is deliberate on our part. > `cvs -z5 -d:ext:[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/cvs co emc2` - Connection times out. That command is almost instantaneous from here. If you send me a dotted quad near your end I'll see if I can ping and trace the route from here to there and see if Jeff will do the same from his server. In the mean time I'd be pleased to check out a tarball and ship to you.
