Please show us the list of kernel modules that are loaded immediately after you log in but before you run emc.
You can do this by opening Applications > Accessories > Terminal, then typing "dmesg", then by pasting the result into your reply. The *top* lines are probably going to be the important ones, but there shouldn't be so many that you can't include them all.
