Updates are, and have been painless Terry.  They do not normally effect your 
setup at all unless you need to tune to take advantage of the new features.  
The only thing I've changed from 2.2.0 to 2.2.8 is the use of stepconfig, 
which has allowed mine to run 40% faster rapids.  The machine itself has 
morphed too, whole new Z drive and an A drive added.

Besides, mine is on the local net, and my router makes it "on' the net, so I 
can talk to the guys via IRC right from the machine when I don't know what 
I'm doing (which is generally the case) :(

A run of cat5 and a 20 dollar NIC in the machine is worth whatever it costs.
