Yes,that is exactly what I am doing -- limit switches in both directions of X and Y axis are common. With a bit of work I could re-wire the limit switches to provide *four *signals: X+,X-,Y+,Y-. I suppose what I am asking for is a sort of "software" implementation of the same idea. This seems to be how KCam works and I found it very convenient.
