You should take a loop at the Parallax Propeller. It has 8 realtime cores and each run at 80MHz . 32 I/O pins and prewritten objects for many motor control applications. To top it off, it has built in VGA video drivers so you can connect a monitor, mouse and keyboard. A prototype board runs about $30. You can program it in Assembly, SPIN, or C, But I would recommend trying out SPIN. If you know C SPIN is pretty easy. There is a free 3-Party compiler know as BST. It runs on Macs, Linus, and PCs.
Take a look at the Sticky Notes at the top of the forum at: <http://forums.parallax.com/forums/default.aspx?f=25&p=1&x=50> I have used PICs, AVRs, and others. Compared, the propeller is an awesome chip. -Chuck- Kirk Wallace wrote: > Sorry, I know this was answered recently, but what is the preferred > micro-controller, PIC, AVR, etcetera?
