Are these analog-input velocity servo drives, or digital-input drives?
Generally, you can't fo this with just the printer port, due to the rate
of enocder counts. There are several interfaces that use the parallel port,
such as the Pico Systems Universal PWM Controller (for digital-input
PWM drives) and the PPMC for analog-input drives.
See http://pico-systems.com/oscrc4/catalog/index.php
for more info on these.
