Maybe not so clear.....   I think somebody turned down the priority of 
error messages such that my hal_ppmc.c driver doesn't report anything 
even when it decides to bomb completely.  I've been meaning to look into 
that and see if some messages might be set to write out even with the 
default error reporting level.

Not fatal, but still logged sounds like the best thing to do.
