I was meaning that it could be used as a general purpose rugged computing device. It has a lot of short-circuit proof outputs, PWM generators, CAN interfaces etc etc already built in. It is readily programmable in C. We have used them as data-loggers in modern (2011 model year) diesel cars with some success, there is even a company that uses them for this on a commercial basis.
