If you just use Thunderbird for email, it works fine. If you also use it for newsgroups, and subscribe to a newsgroup with many messages archived by your news service, it massively screws up Thunderbird. I subscribe to rec.crafts.metalworking, and giganews has over 600,000 messages from back to 2003. I just tried out knode, and it works fine, and is smart enough to only download a weeks worth (or other settable range) of messages. I'm so used to Thunderbird, knode still seems a bit odd and different, but it WORKS!
