Unfortunately it's after loosening the lock, and adjusting that
eccentric worm mount that I have quite a few degrees of slack in the
worm. I'd had several goes at it, just in case another fiddle and
wriggle would bed them better. I'll have to follow your lead, if I'm to
see any improvement.

Now that's encouraging! I'm going to give all of that a go. I might try
a cordless drill, with the torque clutch set low. It'll act like an
alarm if it starts clicking. I have two with dead batteries. I can run
one off a power supply.
