Using OpenOffice and tragesym seems to go pretty quickly. http://www.naic.edu/~rseal/geda-symbols.html http://geda.seul.org/wiki/geda:tragesym_tutorial http://ftp.sunet.se/geda/docs/current/tutorials/tragesym/tragesym.html I only put in the minimum information since I don't expect to get output for a .hal file. > you can edit new symbols as you like with the geda tools > they have tutorials I'll make them as I need them at first. I'm still not sure what I really need or want, so just using what I have so far may make that more clear. My thinking is that, if gEDA works out, it will be more successful if the symbol library is fairly complete, but it's not a high priority at the moment. > the idea of using geda for hal is good, but i never was happy with the > automatic output (how to handle threads and set params and the > draggability without tangle ) The automated output would be nice, but I usually end up having to fix the result anyway. Getting something that is close would be handy as long as the utility doesn't insist on "fixing" my "mistakes" later. > if you are satisfied with what you can do with the library so far > i can help edit new symbols I should post what I've done so far onto the wiki so that you or others can decide if it's worth bothering. > ( i began that page with a mesa 5i20 servo as a task, rather than > 'make 'em all' :) > > have you used the library? I'm trying to get my mill carousel working and it's turning out to be a much bigger job than I had thought. I can get bits of the system working, but seeing how the bits should interact is a challenge. -- Kirk Wallace http://www.wallacecompany.com/machine_shop/ http://www.wallacecompany.com/E45/index.html California, USA ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Get your Android app more play: Bring it to the BlackBerry PlayBook in minutes.
