Chuckle. But after writing that Ken, I think I'd want to check my tongue
for bite marks. ;-) What is even more embarrassing to me is that it is
probably more accurate anywhere in that 16 feet than my little screw and
stepper driven toy is in any one inch!

Call me jealous. OTOH I don't have a flooring slab on the property that
would hold that machine level for an hour. Reality sometimes sucks.

OTOH I played with the backlash comp etc last night, then reran pcb-gcode
for an only 2 pass isolation, and on a top board that was almost usable but
cut a bit deep, applied the corrections to the x axis from the MDI screen,
and ran the bottom.etch. I had to restart as the depth I got by setting it
up 0.0005 from a G38.2 contact and running the raw file, I didn't get a
dark bottom of the first cut so I stopped it, did a run to z0.000 and added
a G92 Z0.0002 & restarted it. Work of art, might even be usable if the
drill holes were finished.

This sort of work will tell one right quick if the pallet pocket isn't
clean, or if the HDPE I made it from is warping. I get the impression this
stuff is wiggling around like a worm on a fishhook. Wood didn't work, this
almost does but I am not about to make one from alu, that is too hard on
the engraving bits when it touches that. I have some 1/2" micarta I use
for zero clearance inserts for the table saw, and that stuff might be the
next 'pallet' material. What would you folks use when you need an
insulated pallet?

Cheers, Gene
