On my machine here at work (caveat, I'm running Ubuntu 11.10, so YMMV), I'm running an ATI FirePro 2260, Xinerama with each screen at 1680 x 1200 resolution. Couldn't get the NVidia drivers to do that without crashing. Course, this is my work machine, not a LinuxCNC machine, so I don't know what the latency numbers are like.
